To enhance and diffuse knowledge, to stimulate research and to provide facilities for surgical training in the field of Otology, Otoneurology and allied, like-minded people met in the month of January 1990 in Bombay.
In 1947 when Dr. C.A Amesur visited Madras again it was decided to form this association with the inauguration to be done at Bombay . The' constitution of several organisations was consulted before forming the constitution of AO.I. Meanwhile a good number of E.N.T. specialist; were sounded in India about the formation of this association, and many of them responded.
It is history that the ENT Surgeons of Kerala were in two separate organizations namely AOI Kerala Branch and Malabar branch of AOI. There was widespread feeling among the ENT Surgeons in Kerala to come under a common unified chapter. The inaugural conference of the state-wide association was held in 2002 at Calicut under the Founder President ,Prof. K. Ashok Kumar. Here the dream came true and the two bodies merged together to form The Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Kerala State.
The Indian Speech and Hearing Association is the professional and scientific association for more 1500 members who are speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in India and internationally.
The Speech Foundation, was founded in 1980 by Ajit Harisinghani – a Speech Therapist with a Bachelors’ degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from The Bombay University, India (1971). A scholarship from the R.D. Sethna Trust in Mumbai enabled him to obtain a Masters’ degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, U.S.A. (1973).
In the year 2002, it was decided to start a journal of Indian Society of Otology, which was long overdue. Accordingly, a journal has been started and it was named as "Journal of the Indian society of Otology"...
